IMMA — Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin
Join this special IMMA Horizons tour and poetry workshop, presented in collaboration with Rough Draft, which invites participants to explore their interpretations of the artworks in the ehxibition Fisherwoman, Fisherwoman through poetry. Together, we will use poetry as a way to engage with some of the "elephants in the room" of our time: the intersection of ecological and humanitarian concerns, and how these challenges shape social cohesion across the globe. The workshop begins with a guided tour of the Fisherwoman Fisherwoman exhibition led by the IMMA team. During the tour, Participants will be encouraged to note the artwork titles that resonates or sparks their curiosity . Following a short break, the group will reconvene for a guided poetry workshop facilitated by artist Alymat Aderayo Salam, where the artwork titles and the exhibition itself will serve as the muse for discussion, reflection and co-creation of new poems. Participants will be invited to share their co-written poems with the group. The workshop will close with an interactive live drawing demonstration by artist Sara Aguisol. Drawing on the artwork titles and newly created poems generated during the workshop, words and phrases will be inscribed onto the body of an elephant drawn on canvas, creating a collective visual reflection on the themes, conversations, and connections that emerged throughout the day. This is an intergenerational workshop with it being open to children aged 8+. However children aged between 8 - 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
