Workshop
Heritage Week Workshops: Letter Illumination
St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin
Join us for a midweek family art workshop at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral as part of Heritage Week! This time, we’ll step back into the world of medieval nuns and monks, who transformed the books into stunning works of art. Children will discover the tradition of illuminated letters and then use calligraphy markers to write and decorate their own names with colours and natural motifs, just as medieval scribes once did. Recommended for children aged 6 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult. This workshop will take place in the Deanery Mews Building, our education space located just across the road from the Cathedral. To access it, please use the door on Saint Patrick’s Close, directly opposite the churchyard. A member of staff will be there to welcome you in! Drop-in anytime between 11:00-13:00. Advanced booking is required.
